It's Time To Take A Stand

Did you know that 78% of Americans identify themselves as Christians? Approximately 85% of those polled in South Carolina and Georgia say that religion is "very important" to them in their daily lives. With percentages that high only 26% said that they attend church at least weekly. That survey was done in 2015 and I'm pretty certain a smaller percentage is coming to church with any frequency today. We see it in our church and other churches are seeing the same thing: a drop in church attendance.

There are many reasons why people don't attend church with any regularity and some are understandable. The one that bothers me most, I guess, is the one people don't want to admit, fear. Some people are afraid to be seen by their friends or families coming to church or even admitting to believing in God! Less than 8% of the United States population identifies as being agnostic or atheist but those are the ones who have no problem using a bully pulpit to push their agenda. They will call you bigoted, racist, ignorant, and many other of their fallback words to try to make you feel ashamed of your beliefs. Some people are afraid to speak up for fear of losing friends, jobs, even family members who don't believe, or like them, won't admit publicly that they believe in an almighty, all loving, God. There are entirely too many "closet Christians" today. Those are the ones who will pray to God behind the closed doors of their homes but refuse to take a stand when confronted. I remember someone from the Bible who did that, Simon Peter.

(Luke 22:54-62) 54 Having arrested Him, they led Him away and brought him to the house of the high priest; but Peter was following at a distance. 55 After they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter was sitting among them. 56 And a servant-girl, seeing him as he sat in the firelight and looking intently at him, said, "This man was with Him too." 57 But he denied it, saying, "Woman, I do not know Him." 58 A little later, another saw him and said, "You are one of them too!" But Peter said, "Man, I am not!" 59 After about an hour had passed another man began to insist, saying, "Certainly this man also was with Him, for he is a Galilean too." 60 But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are talking about." Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed. 61 The Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, "Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times." 62 And he went out and wept bitterly.

We have too many people shouting that we can't preach the word or spread the word of God because the Constitution gives them freedom from religion. No it doesn't! It gives each of us Freedom of Religion! They need to do their homework. The First Amendment to the Constitution states clearly, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;" If you want to worship a pig or a frog, that's your prerogative but you have the freedom in this country to do it. I will worship my Lord Jesus Christ when and where I please and I will bring the word to whomever I please and don't try to tell me I can't.

We are allowing the radicals in this country to take our freedoms one at a time as we just sit idly by and watch it happen. We're afraid of controversy and what someone may say if we take a stand. It's time that we do take a stand and show the world that as Christians we will not bullied. You may back me into a corner, but my back will be against that wall and I'll be facing you head on. I, for one, am ready to stand up for my beliefs and my God so don't push me.

If you feel as I do, join us on Saturday, August 17th, as we show the Central Savannah River Area what we believe and march peacefully down Broad St, Augusta. Christians who want to show the world that we stand for Jesus and the love and acceptance he gives us in our lives.

Please show up and support this effort. We will meet near Curtis Baptist Church on Broad St and stage there. Please arrive between 7:30 and 7:45 so that we can begin the march promptly at 8:30. We will go to 9th street and turn back toward the Commons where there will be vendors, performers, worship music, and the word of God being brought.

It will be a family friendly day of fun and worship. Hope to see you there!

Massive, accompanying thunder will also start slowly and get stronger and more powerful as they day progresses. This shaking ground and loud thunder will continue through the weekend. This will build to a crescendo and begin to ebb as Sunday draws to a close.

You will go back to another time when bikers got together in fellowship to rejoice in friendship as we praise God who allows us to enjoy the lifestyle we love. Along with the bike fun, games, and rides there will be prayer and worship tents set up and staffed by the spirit filled of our biker communities.

There will be camping on the grounds at Faith Community Fellowship Church (formerly Faith Riders Fellowship Church).

"If you're scared, say you're scared."

How many times have we heard that phrase? How many times have we spoken it? I know I heard it from my younger brother, Buddy, many times. Usually it was said as a dare to try to get me to follow him on the next dumb thing he had in mind. Things such as taking a running leap off the roof of the house into the swimming pool or any of dozens of things that could have gotten one, or both, of us beat up, hurt, killed, or arrested. It always started off with that phrase, "If you're scared, say you're scared." He didn't mind doing things we thought were crazy, but he did want to take someone with him.

Us bikers ain't skeered of nut'n. Just ask us, we'll tell ya. We've got a church full of big, bad bikers but we've found that one thing that will make them step back. When it comes time for us to step up and pray with, and for, our brothers and sisters we don't move. We just sit there. Is it fear? If it is where does this fear come from? Why am I even bringing this up? It's probably a subject that will make some people angry, but it's an anger with roots in fear and in knowing that we aren't doing all that we should.

Yesterday while Ms. Diane and I were headed home from running errands in North Augusta she really hit me in the face with "If you're scared, say you're scared." Not with those exact words but it could have been. We were talking about the church and things that needed to be done when she told me that it's time for the men of the church to once again step forward and start doing what needs to be done. "This means you too. You need to lead this renewal." She could have been talking about any of a dozen things but she was hurt that on Thursday night when Pastor Ray and visiting minister Ric asked for prayer warriors to step forward, women were coming to the alter but the men were sitting on their hands and not moving. She wanted to know why we weren't stepping forward and praying for with those men who needed us. Pastor Ray had just talked Sunday about a lot of people in the Church just sitting there on their hands and not stepping forward for anything. He could have been talking directly to me.

What Diane said got me to thinking and questioning myself and man did I come up with the questions. Who among us is qualified to be a prayer warrior? What qualifies us to be be someone who can step forward and ask God to help someone? I had a lot more questions than answers so I decided to grab a book and do some studying. There are probably hundreds of books on the subject but I figured that the best book I could find on the subject was probably the one written many years ago and has stood the test of time, The Bible.

I did learn that the term prayer warrior is not found in the Bible. But I did learn that as Christians we are all called to be prayer warriors. "But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the most Holy Spirit," (Jude 1:20) We need to make sure that we keep God first in our lives, read his word and pray aggressively so that we know that our prayers will be answered. I have no problem in my own room or somewhere alone saying a prayer for someone who has asked, but I always worry that I may do more harm than good by attempting to pray for someone else while we are at the alter. I have prayed earnestly on this and know without a doubt that the Lord will protect me from myself and will give me the right words at the right time to help those that need it.

As Christians we all pray, but what type of Christian are we? Are we the ones who just pray without much meaning as in "Lord forgive us our trespasses and we forgive our trespassers," or are we the Christians who pray in earnest, knowing that the Lord is with us and will answer our prayers in his way?

I am tired of sitting on my hands and I hope that each of you will help me and our Church as we return to what we were meant to be. For my part I will make a sincere effort to improve on my walk with God and I will pray earnestly and make prayer a priority in my own life. I will believe with my whole heart that my prayers will be answered, on my behalf, and on behalf of all that need my prayers. I will continue to read and study my Bible so that I may have the right scripture when I need it. Most of all I will trust in the Lord to allow the correct words to flow from my heart and my mouth as I attempt help and comfort for all who are in need.

Before I close this out tonight I would like to give a shout out to a true man of God who has no problem with praying for any who need it. I had never met Pastor Ric Lyons before this past Thursday evening when he came and sat in front of Diane and I. He knew things about Diane and I and the things we do in the church that he really should not have known. At first I put it off to Pastor Ray telling him certain things but as we continued to speak, he knew things Ray didn't. As we spoke he told me that I had ideas for the church and was a force to be reckoned with in the church and that it is time for me to take a stand. He said that he didn't know exactly what it was that I was being led to stand up for, but that I had ideas that could help lead and put the Faith Riders back on the course it needs to be on. I don't know what I need to do. I will tell you to get ready as his words gave me the confidence I was lacking to stand and fight for whatever it is I'm being led to do. I'm sure that with prayer and faith it will work out.

Maybe what I have written tonight was part of what he was speaking about, but please know that I, for one, will no longer be sitting on my hands. I will work for my God and for our church. I will not be afraid to stand up and stand out.

Come See Us For An Uplifting Experience

"Let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near." (Hebrews 10:25 NLT)

I know how many of you love to listen to Leon and the Faith Riders Band as they play and sing their outstanding praise and worship music. I know you get spiritually fed when Pastor Ray Boone brings his truly inspiring messages.

So where are you? You watch on the internet. You claim to be a Christian so why don't you have your butt in a seat at church?

I know that we have a lot of illness going around the entire country. The flu has hit in epidemic proportions this year. We have people who are sitting in hospitals, or homes, with their sick and ill loved ones. Yes, we understand. Occasionally we have to work or have commitments we absolutely must attend and we just can't make it to church. If we truly love God and our brothers and sisters, we will miss every moment we can't be with them.

I had my excuses. For years I told myself that I was done with Church because the people were hypocritical. They were judgmental and critical of anyone not exactly like they were. But I learned. People make up the church. People make mistakes. We all have our problems. Show me that one who has never been critical, judgmental, or hypocritical at some time during their lives on this earth.

Psalms 133:1 tells us, "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity."

If we truly love God then we will love our brothers and sisters in the Lord. We want to be with them. You don't get the same fellowship and understanding if you sit in front of your computer screen or TV and watch church. Try it. There is an entirely different experience sitting in a seat at church. We want to be together! We go to church together, yes, but then we still don't want to lose that fellowship, that friendship and comradery as evidenced by the things we do outside of the church walls. We may head off to lunch after church together. We may meet before church for breakfast. We do things such as take trips together, go to different events. As the name Faith Riders implies we have several in the congregation who ride motorcycles. We love to go for rides together. Sometimes they are just short rides around town. Other times we may go on overnight trips or just a long peaceful Saturday ride just to be together.

By attending church we become a part of something bigger than us. We feel the spirituality as we walk into the church. We learn and we love. We need God in our lives. You need God in your life.

Statistics have shown that if you miss church for just one month there is a 50-50 chance you won't return for a year. We have seen that happen as some people started skipping a week here and there and then a couple of weeks, then we may or may not see them over the next month or over the next several months. It is like anything we do in life. As we start neglecting anything it becomes easier and easier to put it off. Sometimes forgetting about it altogether. We definitely don't need to forget our spiritual being.

We have seen some people walk away from the church over the past several years and if they left and continued with another church I can respect that. If they are happy, then we are happy for them. Each person has to find his or her own way. If someone left and did not continue in a church, please come back, if not to us, then somewhere. Please don't neglect God. He is a forgiving God but, we should always prioritize God.

We lose those we love. I lost my father years ago to cancer. My mother passed away several years ago. I loved my wife's mother and father as my own. Both are gone now. I lost a brother a few years ago. I didn't think he could ever be replaced. I lost my sister a few years ago. There is, and always will be, a place in my heart for each of them. My memories will keep them in my heart forever. I never thought I could fill that void and I didn't. I have been adopted into a new, and loving, family, my church. They have become mother, father, brother, and sister. They are my aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. They are my family. They are not an extended family. They are close family. I love each and every one of them. A new family has taken me in.

Do you have that piece of your heart missing? Have you lost family and friends you thought could never be replaced? We won't try to take their place in your heart. We will show you that your heart has a capacity for love that you never knew existed.

We will show you what family can be and God will show you he is the father you always wanted.

If you have a church you're happy with, great. If you don't and you want to see what it's like to have a loving family, come see us.

We love you all.

Psalms 100:2 Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him with singing.

Yesterday morning, on Facebook, I posted a photo of Faith Riders Fellowship Church members as they danced in praise and worship during a recent service. Someone not associated with our Church took offense to the photo stating that was a private time of prayer and we shouldn't put a picture like that on Facebook. I don't know if she is just misguided or is attempting to create drama within our Church family but I went looking for the answers where I knew I could find them, the Bible. I only wish she had.

What we were doing in that photo was not "private time" for prayer, this was a time for fellowship and worship with our family. We are not embarrassed or ashamed to let the world know we love our God, our Church, and each other. We were doing as the Bible very clearly tells us in Psalms 100:2, "Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him with singing." When you feel the Holy Spirit start to move inside a place of worship you can't help but get to your feet praising the Lord, clapping and singing along. If you have never felt this during a Church service, then you're in the wrong Church. If the Faith Riders Band can't give you this feeling, you need to search your heart and ask the Lord to come and be your Savior. When the music is right or the preacher is on fire and the spirit is touching your soul there is a feeling of joy that will  wash over you that just can't be described to a person who has never found God. Have you ever been in a service and seen someone listening to the preacher or the praise music and one minute they're clapping and singing and the next they're on their knees at the alter? I have seen it. I have done it. One minute I was listening to the music and the feeling of blessing came over me to the point I was on my knees praying and thanking Jesus for the blessings he has given me in this life. I have watched as members of the band tried to continue on with their playing or singing while their faces were covered in tears. I have watched preachers get choked up on their own words because the spirit was so moving at that particular time. You can't feel that and not know there is a God.

Yes, there is a time for silent prayer just as we are told Jesus did in Luke 5:16 "But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer," and again in Mark 6:46 "After telling everyone good-bye, he went up into the hills by himself to pray." Each of us should have that private, alone time to pray. We are told to find a "prayer closet" or somewhere you can retreat from distraction to be alone with God and speak to him. Never forget that you can pray anywhere, in church, on a walk, while travelling, anywhere is a good place to speak to the Lord. I found here lately that when I'm cutting my yard I have hours and hours to think and it is a wonderful time to thank God for everything he has done in my life and ask him to continue to watch over and protect those I love. Prayer time is anywhere and anytime. Praise time can also be anywhere and anytime. Don't believe me? Watch Pastor Ray Boone sometimes when he goes live on Facebook from his car and is singing and praising the Lord. He knows where he stands and by whose hand he is led.

Don't ever be embarrassed or ashamed to praise God just as you shouldn't be embarrassed or ashamed to let people know that you follow Jesus and you are one of his disciples carrying on the work he started. If you're embarrassed for a photo of you to be seen while you're praying or worshiping then it's either time to come out of your closet or time for you to really find God. He's not ashamed of you, why should you be ashamed of him?

Faith Riders Fellowship Church - We're Backkkkkk

On the way to Church Sunday evening Diane was looking at her Facebook page and came across something from another Church that was about their morning service. It read in part, "No whoops, no hollers, no jumping crazy in here..."
Pastor George Tallmage
Thursday Evening Aug 10th, 2017
Well it is about time we got back to whooping, hollering, and jumping crazy. It is about time we returned to feeling the Spirit of God in our services. We had been watching our congregation as it slowly dwindled away and people began to feel as if the Lord had left our Church. There was no feeling of that spirit we once had. People had become apathetic and seemed to have lost all emotion. We seemed to have lost our way. Lost our purpose. We had lost the reason we were founded in the first place and the reason we loved the Church and each other. Never have we seen such a divided Church as we have over the last several months. We had become lost and floundering. Someway, we had allowed the devil to slip through those front doors to try to "kill, steal, and destroy" from within. Our leaders and "core group" who have been there for years had begun allowing the turmoil to get between them, their friendships, and our love for each other. We saw a division building between husbands and wives, parents and their sons and daughters, brothers, sisters, and friends who have always loved and respected each other. We saw, and heard, people in their own little groups talking to, and about, each other. What was happening to these people who just a short few months ago were so loving, giving, and caring?

Thursday, August 10th, 2017
The Church was destroying itself from within and Satan was sitting back watching and laughing, enjoying every minute. The sad part about all this was that the leaders, myself included, were allowing it to happen. In fact we had pushed for the changes that were taking us down this path. Now we felt helpless, with no direction, and were actually being told there was nothing we could do. We were told the Church didn't belong to us anymore. All told, the Church belongs to the Lord but it needs administration from competent leadership and many people to help it stay the course, not one man.

How had we gotten to this point? Late last year we saw that some changes had to be made. When it finally came time to admit that something needed to be done we allowed ourselves to be backed into a corner and accept things too quickly. Those things should have been thoroughly investigated and researched before we jumped in with both feet. We had placed God in the back seat, and not in the driver's seat where he belonged. We were now being treated by God as his misbehaving children, which we were. We needed a good spanking and we were getting it. It was our fault, our responsibility, and we now had to find a way to make it right again. We all knew that once again we were about to embark on a trail that could complete the destruction taking place and if Satan had his way, this Church would disappear.

Thursday Evening August 10th, 2017
On the other hand change now could possibly renew us and let us stop the carnage and begin to rebuild what we once had. Now, it was up to the deacons. All this was placed on their shoulders and they accepted the blame, although it belonged to everyone in a leadership role. There were arguments and deep, hours long, discussions behind closed doors. There were divisions and hurtful decisions that had to be made. They saw what needed to be done and did it by finally getting down on their knees and giving it back to God. There were many sleepless nights as they lie awake praying. "Which way do we go from here God? Please lead us. We're putting it where it should have been all along, back in your hands. We need you to lead us."

Lead them, he did. This past week decisions were made without knowing what the final outcome could be. Now God was placed back in his rightful position of authority and was once again in control and leading these men. We began to see immediate results.

On Thursday evening we had the most amazing attendance we've had on a Thursday in quite some time. People just don't believe in giving of their time during the mid-week. Even if that giving is to God. Everyone of us there that night was treated to a wonderful evening of "whoops, hollers, and jumping crazy."

As I walked through the front doors that evening I could instantly feel a difference. God was in the house. Diane, Celena, Jessie, and myself took our positions at the door to start greeting people and you could feel the change of attitude with each person entering. Everyone had a huge smile on their face as we gave and received truly sincere hugs and handshakes. After the opening prayer Leon and the band had the congregation on their feet praising the Lord. Arms were raised toward Heaven and there was a reaction to what was happening like we haven't seen in over six months. As I was told by several people after the service, "We felt a freedom to worship again." Think about that for a moment. "Freedom to worship." We live in a country where we are free to worship as we see fit, at least for now, yet people had been feeling stifled from speaking up and speaking out. Our sermons had been overbearing and services over structured. Now people were letting months of frustrations empty from deep within their souls. When music alone can call people to the alter to pray and thank God for their blessings, he is without a doubt there, listening, and joining in. I was in amazement as I watched the Spirit take hold of this Church once again. I also felt the call and as I stood up front clapping and singing along, I fell to my knees at the alter. I wasn't there to ask for anything for myself, only to thank God for giving us a second chance and to please, please keep watching over us. "Please Lord, guide us in all our decisions from this point forward, and thank you for putting our Church back on the road where it belongs, in your hands and the hands of the congregation and the leadership of your Church."

Pastor Ray Boone
Sunday Morning Service
August 13th, 2017
Myself, and I'm sure several others, couldn't wait to see what Sunday would bring. I was impatient, scared, and nervous. When Sunday morning finally came Diane, me, and our grandson headed to Church. We stopped for a quick bite to eat then continued on an apprehensive, short, ride to Church. Why was I apprehensive about going to Church? Because I didn't think anything could top the Thursday evening service. I was so afraid of being let down. I felt as if God might be have been telling us, "See what you could have had if you had not pushed me aside." We do worship a good and forgiving God and as we pulled into the parking lot a couple of cars were already there. We made our way inside and spoke to others gathered in the foyer area. Once again the feeling was palpable. It was evident once more that our Savior had made a return visit. People were laughing, talking, and enjoying each other's company. Everyone was hugging each other. I looked to the sky and said a quick, "Thank you." I felt safe and secure and seemed to know that it's going to be alright. Amazing Grace how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me.

Leon asked leaders and members to please stay for a short while after Church as the Leaders wanted to speak to the congregation.

As Leon, Tony, Chris and Cathy began to play and sing one person got up, then another, then another, then another. Before long, again, almost the entire Church was on their feet with praise and worship. People were making their way to the front where they were singing along, clapping and moving to the music and Spirit. Some people were kneeling at the alter. The people who weren't on their feet were those who just couldn't stand or couldn't stand that long. Turning around and looking, they had the same enthusiasm everyone else was feeling and they were clapping, tapping their feet and singing along. I think the Lord told Leon at the end of their set to sing Amazing Grace before I exploded. That was what I had been feeling all morning and I let it out, singing at the top of my lungs right along with them. Apparently I wasn't the only one feeling that way as the entire Church body was singing along. The Spirit was going throughout the Church.

Yes, there were a few people who had left over the changes and they are missed. Everyone is loved there and we hated to see anyone go and as the Spirit filled us there were tears of both happiness at what was happening there, and sadness for those who could not see the great things happening.

Next up was Pastor Ray Boone. For those of you who may not know Pastor Ray, he is about five foot nothing and I may be exaggerating. But when he starts preaching you'd swear he is eight feet tall. He is a fireball that I really believe God speaks to directly. His message on Sunday hit the nail directly on the head about everything that had been going on and the struggles we've had at the Church. He was preaching to each of us individually and we heard praises and amen from all over the congregation. I know his sermon was talking to me and I was devouring it like a man who hasn't in eaten in months.

Such an awesome service Leon didn't have to ask us to stay. It's as if no one wanted to leave anyway. Leon spoke for a minute and then turned the mic over to Tony who explained to everyone what had been happening and the changes being made. They stated that we had lost the Faith Fellowship Church name in the transition and were considering other names. It was brought up that we started as Faith Riders Fellowship Church and it was felt that we needed to return to our roots. There was an overwhelming positive response from the congregation and they stated they would discuss it. After each of the Deacons spoke for a minute the service was dismissed.

Several of us from the Faith Riders For Christ Motorcycle Ministry rode to Batesburg after the services to attend the memorial of member, Larry "Cowboy" Keisler. Before attending the memorial several of us went to get a bite to eat and discussed what we have experienced at Church the past two services. Everything was positive and once again that word, "Freedom," was brought up.

Diane and I arrived extra early for the evening service. As we waited in the foyer to greet people I was disappointed when only a few people showed up. I began to think that maybe we jumped the gun on believing we were on the upswing this quickly. Once again I began to get nervous and anxious. I just told God, "It's okay, I understand."

As we got within just a few minutes of the service start time I was amazed by God's power once again. It almost looked like a parade as vehicle after vehicle pulled into the parking lot. They were entering as fast as we could say hello to them. The final count was larger for an evening service than we had all year. It was a wonderful sight to see those seats filling on a Sunday night. That is a sight unseen in most much larger Churches. I'm not about to question God on how. I will however praise him for the work he is helping us do and what he is giving us.

Before the service Leon made an announcement which gave me the title to this article. It was decided by the Deacons after the overwhelming response during the morning service that the Church would be returning to it's prior name.........Faith Riders Fellowship Church.  Yes ladies and gentlemen we are returning to where we came from. Now it's on to completely returning to our roots and extending a hand to those who truly need us.

The service started with praise music and everyone once again on their feet. I just can't believe we keep on doing all this whooping, hollering and jumping crazy. We must really be nuts. What fun it is. We should be committed. Yahoo....God is definitely in this place!

Pastor Brad Jay began his sermon with more outstanding praise music and went into his great sermon. Once more God had given him the right words at the right time. He was simply amazing. Pastor Brad always brings a powerful message and this was no different. I caught myself giving several amen's and several "Praise the the Lord" comments. I haven't done this in months as I just have not felt it. This is something that must come from the heart and my heart had not been in it. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but I have to tell it as I feel it. I did realize about halfway through the sermon just how happy I am with what God is doing in my life. A great part of my happiness is what has happened in such a short time with my Church. That's right....My Church. I hope that each person who now enters the front doors into that Church realizes as I take their hand for a handshake, or as I wrap my arms around them to give them a hug that this is my Church and I will fight for my Church and everyone inside it. I hope that each member will feel the same, that this is their Church and we all have a stake in it and each one of us will also fight for it.

Those that have returned and those who were drawn to the Church over the last few days, we would also like to welcome you and tell you that you can also make this YOUR CHURCH and allow all of us at Faith Riders Fellowship Church to become your family. I am proud to call each person here family and I believe we have weathered the storm. Satan we rebuke you in the name of God and we want to let you know we have reclaimed our Church.
